TSMA & TSWTN to Host Quarterly Event on February 11  

The Tri-State Manufacturer's Alliance (TSMA) and Tri-State World Trade Network (TSWTN) will host a quarterly event on February 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Old National Bank in Downtown Evansville.  

The topics of the event will include the following:

·    World economic outlook - short term and long term
·    Focus on emerging markets for US exports
·    Shifting international trade patterns
·    Status of Free Trade Agreements  

Speakers include Robert West, Principal, Halcrow; Mark A. Cooper, U.S. Department of Commerce; and Stephen Akard, Indiana Economic Development Corporation.  

Location: Old National Bank Auditorium, One Main Street, Downtown Evansville

Cost:  FREE for TSMA members; Non-members $35 per person. A continental breakfast will be provided.  

Waking Up From the Nightmare: An Assessment of World Trade
Robert West, Keynote Speaker  

West is a Principal with Halcrow specializing in trade and transportation and matters of economic development.  He focuses on business development in Latin America and also works extensively with ports and railways in the region. His consulting experience spans 25 years.  West has performed feasibility studies for new port facilities, developed financial models, and recommended financing options for various, large infrastructure development projects including ports and railways.   

West has worked in Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Brazil.  

Why Exporting Matters to Indiana
Mark A. Cooper, Speaker  

Cooper is the Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce office in Indiana.  He provides assistance and direction in the planning and coordination of all activities within the local office.  He is also responsible for developing and enhancing relationships with industry, local, state, and federal representatives, and provides assistance, advice, and counsel to Indiana businesses. Cooper has been an active part of the Indiana international business community for the last twelve years.  

How Indiana Benefits from Foreign Direct Investment Through Job Growth
Stephen Akard, Speaker  

Akard is the Director of International Development for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).  He oversees Indiana's overseas economic development offices for the IEDC and is responsible for the state's efforts to attract international investors.
